Shobenkozo – Manneken-Pis

Lyrics : Tomomi Hida
Music : Patrick Gerola
Arrangements : Philmarie

In the surreal situation of the Corona, it was important for art to enrich people’s hearts. It was with this in mind that Patrick Gerola composed the music, with text and interpretation by Tomomi Hida.
This song accompanies the exhibition of the mobile art museum on four wheels in Japan. A giant statue painted and created by artist Patrick Gerola depicting a Manneken-pis on a light truck and travelling across the country.

Created in 1388 and now over 600 years old, the Manneken-pis is a hero who calmed disaster. When enemy troops surrounded the city of Brussels in Belgium and tried to blow up the walls, a little boy peed on the wick to put out the fire, which is said to be the origin of the name “Manneken-pis”.

Through this exhibition, we sincerely hope to be able to put out the fuse and save the world from this surreal situation in Corona, which has succeeded in paralysing the cultural and economic world.

It’s a real treasure for us to meet so many happy people through this exhibition.

The recording was made at Studio La Rivière in Belgium, with arrangements by Belgian musician and producer Philmarie.
